Today, at the Abdel Latif Rahal International Conference Center, the fourth edition of the African Conference on Startups kicked off under the theme “Proud of African Entrepreneurs”, with the participation of more than 40 ministerial delegations, alongside numerous experts, investors, and representatives of key international organizations.

During the opening session, Prime Minister Seifi Ghrib delivered a speech on behalf of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, highlighting the importance of this continental event in promoting entrepreneurship across Africa. He reaffirmed Algeria’s ongoing support for entrepreneurial initiatives and innovative youth across the continent, particularly through the African Startup Investment Fund.

The President also noted in his speech that the number of startups in Algeria exceeded 13,000 by the end of 2025, with a target of 20,000 startups by 2029.

In his address, Mr. Nour Eddine Wazeh, Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Microenterprises, welcomed the participants, emphasizing that since its first edition in 2022, the conference has remained a leading continental platform bringing together decision-makers, entrepreneurs, and investors. It serves as an opportunity to strengthen partnerships and support innovation and entrepreneurship across Africa. The opening ceremony was attended by more than 3,000 participants and 200 exhibitors.

The Ministry underscores that hosting this event in Algeria reflects the country’s steadfast commitment to empowering African youth, promoting continental cooperation, and strengthening Africa’s position in the knowledge- and innovation-based economy.
