Environmental entrepreneurship for building a sustainable economy
Minister Nouredine Ouadah: Environmental Entrepreneurship for Building a Sustainable Economy
Mr. Nouredine Ouadah, Minister of the Knowledge Economy, Start-ups and Microenterprises, took part—at the invitation of the Minister of Environment and Quality of Life, Ms. Kawther Krikou, and alongside the Minister of Vocational Training and Education, Ms. Nassima Arhab—in the coordination meeting entitled “Environmental Entrepreneurship: Training, Support and Accompaniment,” held today in the capital.
In his address, the Minister emphasized the need to provide a flexible and enabling business environment that facilitates intersectoral cooperation and encourages innovation and entrepreneurship. He noted that the current phase calls for motivating young people and supporting their transition from the traditional employment mindset to a culture of business creation, as a strategic choice to strengthen economic dynamism.
He further highlighted that vocational and environmental training institutions play a key role in preparing and qualifying young people by equipping them with the necessary technical knowledge and technological standards. He called for linking training to entrepreneurial practice to ensure the acquisition of essential skills for launching successful entrepreneurial projects capable of contributing to development.
The event also provided an opportunity to showcase the progress achieved under the “1,000 Collectors” initiative, which aims, through the microcredit scheme, to equip trained and qualified youth with the necessary equipment for waste collection and marketing.
In conclusion, the Minister called for strengthening the role of the private sector and creating effective integration among various sectors to support enterprises active in transforming waste into value-added economic resources. He stressed that this is a global trend in which Algeria should engage, in light of international transformations and their impact on energy and raw materials markets, with a view to building a sustainable national economy based on knowledge and innovation.
